about

In the Middle is the first single to be taken from Rat The Magnificent’s debut album The Body As Pleasure, coming out on the fiercely independent TTWD Records in Spring 2018.

“Muscular, fuzz-drenched post-punk” Joyzine
“Stomping, Cramps’ish, punk-blues” Dexter Bentley, Resonance FM
“I’d have no problem with you being my house band” Steve Albini
“The happy vibes take a bit of a kicking” Raw Meat
“Slick, dark and hypnotic” Roadie Reviews
“Dark sensual beats and basslines for this unique take on slacker rock” Clark Kents Rock and Roll Revue
“Something really special” Criminally Underrated Podcast

Featuring Ian Catskilkin of Art Brut/ Future of the Left, Ross Davies and Anna Dodridge of BBC Radio 6 Music darlings Hot Sauce Pony, RTM are a much darker and more foreboding prospect.

A motorik stampede of a song In The Middle is an ode to lust and the carnal acts where Anderson sings of the immediacy of desire.

The video looks at this paradigm, a ritual essay on the bright lights of the flesh and the darkness that can surround such things.

The single’s exclusive 2 b-sides feature Jen Macro (Hurtling, MBV, Graham Coxon, Charlotte Hatherley) on guitar, and were recorded at Brixton Hill Studios with Nick Howiantz.

about

Rat the Magnificent London, UK

Rat The Magnificent were from London.

A mix of obstinance and oblivion this guitar bass drum unit. Like all the good drinks, the whiskey, the coffee, you need balance in strength.

Open blasted guitar, heavy bass and drums. I’m not saying they ain’t hard work, but nothing good comes without that. No one fucks good without sweating.
